vi knallgrau assists Opel on the way to social media.

The Vienna-based agency focuses on social media and has long lasting experiences in the field of automotives. In the future vi knallgrau supervises Opel/Vauxhall Europe-wide in the field of social media.


Vienna, 2010-07-09. In the future the vi knallgrau GmbH will assist the motorist from Rüsselsheim, the Adam Opel GmbH, with the companies’ activities on Facebook. The target is to strengthen the ongoing online dialog in social media with the fans of the brand.


Social media and in particular Facebook is becoming more and more an everyday communication medium for a great deal of the society. The way consumers make use of media is rapidly changing. Along with this process comes the modification of expectations by the target group towards companies. Besides the classic communication channels such as TV, print or online, clients also expect direct dialogue interfaces to companies and brands via their preferred media and platforms.


Against the just now described background it is advisable to use Facebook as a dialogue interface between the brand and the target group. vi knallgrau is delighted to accompany the Adam Opel GmbH on their step into the dialog on Facebook. By the use of their strategic consultation and the operative realization the Vienna-based social media agency will hereafter support the Europe-wide activities of the automobile manufacturer on Facebook. Beyond that vi knallgrau will also be in charge for the ongoing operations and the monitoring of the official Adam Opel GmbH appearance on Facebook.

Vijay Iyer, responsible for the field of social media at the Adam Opel GmbH, has ambitious plans: „It is our aim to anchor social media as a constant in our European communication mix. It is central to establish a cross-company and cross-divisional approach above the over 25 international Opel markets. This approach goes far beyond the solitary usage in marketing and PR. In the long run we want to enable all our staff and trading enterprises to shift in a suitable and self-confident manner within the social web as representatives of the brand.”

About vi knallgrau
As early as 2003 vi knallgrau concentrated on those applications and paradigms which are summarized these days according to the concepts web 2.0 and social media. Due to projects such as the bloghoster twoday.net and as a participant of international conferences vi knallgrau is an integral part of the web 2.0 ecological system in the german/austrian/swiss region. In October 2009, knallgrau GmbH teamed up with German agency Virtual Identity AG. Vi knallgrau has around 25 employees at its office in Vienna.
